چکیده

As a hard-to-decarbonize sector, the shipping industry is experiencing demands to accelerate transition from fossil fuels alternative low-carbon fuels, significantly reduce negative impacts on environment. Biofuels are regarded as one of solutions for decarbonization in marine sector. This paper introduces lignin-derived drop-in biofuel, 2-methoxy-4-propylphenol (2M4PP), non-edible feedstocks and investigates engine performance using its 10% (by volume) blend with standard diesel fuel (DF) at variable speeds loads. Results show insignificant difference between in-cylinder pressures proposed DF. The diesel-2M4PP emits less carbon monoxide (CO) nitric oxide (NOx) than DF all by up 39.6% 10.7% respectively, although brake-specific consumption (BSFC) higher. A Ricardo wave model, which validated experimental data 2400 rpm speed full load, investigated adjusting injection pressure, timing, duration nozzle diameter. optimal parameters, i.e., 214 bar 6° 41.4° duration, 0.37 mm injector orifice, lead best improved brake power, reduced NOx emissions, limited influence BSFC hydrocarbon emissions compared © 2021 Authors. Combustion Improvement for Reducing Exhaust Emissions in DI Diesel Engine

Multidimensional modelling of open-cycle process of OM355 engine was developed. Calculations for computational mesh were carried out. The results of the model were validated by experimentally measured in-cylinder pressure and the good agreement between calculations and measurements approved the trustworthy of numerical code. Results included pressure, temperature, emission and Rate of heat rel...

Impact of increasing methyl branches in aromatic hydrocarbons on diesel engine combustion and emissions

Lignocellulosic materials have been identified as potential carbon–neutral sources of sustainable power production. Catalytic conversion of lignocellulosic biomass results in liquid fuels with a variety of aromatic molecules. This paper investigates the combustion characteristics and exhaust emissions of a series of alkylbenzenes, of varying number of methyl branches on the monocyclic aromatic ...

Experimental Studying the Effect of EGR Distribution on the Combustion, Emissions and Perforemance in a Turbocharged DI Diesel Engine

This paper presents the results of experimental work carried out to evaluate the distribution of cold and hot exhaust gas recirculation between cylinders in a DI diesel engine. The experiments have been conducted on a 3.99 liters turbocharged DI diesel engine under full load condition at 1900rpm in order to distinguish and quantify some effects of hot and cooled EGR with various rates on the EG...

Numerical Investigation on the Effect of Injection Timing on Combustion and Emissions in a DI Diesel Engine at Low Temperature Combustion Condition

One promising way to achieve low temperature combustion regime is the use of a large amount of cooled EGR. In this paper, the effect of injection timing on low temperature combustion process and emissions were investigated via three dimensional computational fluid dynamics (CFD) procedures in a DI diesel engine using high EGR rates. The results show when increasing EGR from low levels to levels...
